What is it?
Line editing takes a look at the style, clarity, and effectiveness of the language used. It focuses on higher level elements including pacing, logical flow, characterization, dialogue, and tone.
Line editing is the most intensive and developmental editing process that will often result in the biggest changes.

Copy Editing
Best for previously
edited drafts without any structural issues.
What is it?
Copy editing looks at the mechanics of language, such as style, grammar, spelling, and inconsistencies in style or usage. Copy editing does not address big-picture problems with plot, pacing, or characters. Instead, copy editing focuses on the more technical side of writing.

Best for already edited final drafts that just need a final polish.
What is it?
Proofreading is the last step in the editing process. It focuses on catching any remaining errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation before formatting. It is not a replacement for copy editing.
